Capping, Filling, Screwing Facilitated by LinMot Rotary and Linear Technology

Linmot

LinMot have combined a rotating and linear axis in the same axis making integration easier. The system controls the position, the speed of all axes in addition, of the force. So you can do a quality control directly to the assembly in addition to being able to store the information in a given database. LinMot also makes integration with the PLC easy thanks to the different version of servo drive available on the most common communications buses. For Rockwell users an EThernet IP version and an CIP Sync version are available.

Looking for a way to save energy! Why not regenerate your dynamic braking energy on the line

Bonitron offers different product to support your Ac Drive applications that require braking like, hoist , descending conveyors, escalators and other similar applications. The industry generally uses transistors and braking resistance, but this solution gets your energy converted to heat. This has two effects, the loss of energy and the increased need for air conditioning. The other option is to use a regeneration module that will re-inject energy onto the plant grid. This module is compatible with all drive that has a connection on their DC buses.

Attached is a video about the product

Solutions for over-voltage and under-voltage trip with AC Drive

Do you have critical applications that can’t be interrupted or voltage variations that cause your drive to trip ? For example, the time it takes for the generator to switch from the Hydro voltage to the generator may be long enough to trigger a fault on your drive  or your plant is at the end of the line and the voltage fluctuates and trip the drive.Bonitron is a name to remember in those situation they manufactures multiple solution. They have units called UPD. Like a Ups these units take over during power outage but provide only DC energy. The AC Drive have already a  power converter so it is not necessary and much more efficient to not do the conversion 2 time . The result is a more reliable and  more price effective  solution than a UPS. Also as the solution is parallel it does not prevent your Drive from working if the UPS has issue.

If your voltage interruptions are short. There is also a solution based on capacitors that will be plugged in parallel to the DC Bus of your Drive. This additional capacity allows energy to be stored to overcome the problems of voltage variation.

Your Drive can also trip on over voltage, which is normally due to regeneration of  your motor when it is being tracked  by the load. The generator effect of your motor inflates your DC bus and the drive trip to protect itself. It is then necessary to precede to deflate the DC bus by consuming the excess energy. Option 1, use resistance to burn energy or Option 2 returns this surplus on the power line. The greener solution is regeneration, because the energy is not wasted in heat but rather returned so that other load can consume it. There are accessories on the market to create a common  DC Bus with multiple drive , this way an accelerating drive can consume the current of another drive in deceleration. This common bus solution will reduce the size of the regeneration unit in addition to limited to one unit per group of drive . The beauty of the solution , it can be done with regular of the shelf drive , all you need is a connection to the DC bus of the drive.

Another interesting option is for cycle loads, which go from motor  to generator state constantly. Like an oil pump jack. When the pump goes up it consumes power when it comes down it regenerates. Capacitors can then be installed to store during the descent and provide energy to the climb.

Industry 4.0 do we have a choice?

Canada, which is not successful to filled the productivity gap with the other industrialized countries. So we can’t not miss the next turning point of the 4.0 industry. The next industrial Revolution, like any other, will create wealth, winners and losers. I prefer to be a winner and you? Quebec manufacturers who once pulled their game with a low dollar, lower overall costs and a sense of resourcefulness in Quebec will have more and more difficulty in doing so. Several companies did not even take the turn completely 3.0. The well-structured company, equipped with the latest technology will thrive thanks to automation. Their product will be better built. They will have fewer production stops, their customers will know the delivery dates and will be delighted. Do we have a choice? Well no more than Ford’s competitors had, with the chain production.

Ford was doing thing, faster, better cheaper!

The basis of change begins with the simplification of work and the automation of repetitive processes. In the majority of cases the result is a higher rate, more quality, more consistency and more safety for the workers who works with the machines. I think Canada  is well positioned. We have invested in our schools and we have a good pool of educated people in addition to having a good basin of aging machinery that needs to be changed. Interest rates are relatively low. We only have to look at the Chinese who currently install more robots than any other country in the world and yet the labor is plentiful and cheap? They may have understood that it is inevitable and strategic.

Now you have to start planning and investing before your company loses its relevance in the market and your low market position makes financing of the new technology impossible. I will not hide that there is a lot of work to arrive at the factory 4.0. But the profits are immense not to mention that the generation of millennial that follows may not want to work in a factory or repetitive work is difficult and stunning or even in a factory where the information is non-existent. This generation is accustomed to finding its info with Google. It will be difficult to understand that nothing is available on your production line. That the reports are made by hand by collecting given data on the right and left. I think they’re right.

So in my humble opinion the turning point is inevitable, if not your industry is doomed, because your competitors will do things better, cheaper and faster than you. Further recruiting new employees to work in outdated factories will be impossible. You don’t want to live the inverted Hygrade phenomenon, fewer people eat it because it is not fresh. Or the inverted spiral that is so scary to Bill Gates.

When buying a car or a new smart phone people want the latest technology, why not do the same thing in our factories. Don’t we spend three quarters of our lives at work?

Need help setting your priorities? Contact us. We have several solutions that are part of the 4.0 industry approach
